Questions restaurants actually ask.
If yours is not here, write to us — the answer usually ends up on this page afterwards.
Getting started
What signing up involves and what it costs to find out.
No — Provn is the website. You get a yourname.provn.app address the moment you pick a subdomain, and you can point your own domain at it later without any downtime or broken links.
About seventeen minutes of typing across seven steps, plus however long Stripe takes to verify your business. Loading a large menu is the part that varies — importing a spreadsheet is much faster than typing dishes in one at a time.
No. You can build the whole storefront, load your menu and preview everything before entering any payment details. Billing starts after your first paid order.
Yes. The storefront stays suspended until you open it, so you can share the link with staff for testing and nothing is reachable by the public.
Run both. Most restaurants keep the marketplace for discovery and move their regulars to their own link, which is where the margin difference shows up fastest.
Menu and orders
How the day-to-day works once you are live.
Yes, from an Excel file with columns for name, description, price, category and image URLs. Rows are validated before anything is written and you see a full preview first. Note that import creates new items — re-uploading the same sheet will not update dishes you already have.
You build groups — 'Choose a size', 'Add toppings' — with required or optional rules, minimum and maximum selections and a price delta per option. Groups are reusable, so 'Spice level' is defined once and attached to twenty dishes.
Yes. Pickup and delivery can both be scheduled for later the same day, restricted to your real opening hours and at least an hour ahead so you are never ambushed.
One toggle in the console stops new orders. The storefront stays browsable and says you are not accepting orders right now, rather than letting people build a cart they cannot check out.
Yes. Logins come in owner, manager and staff roles — staff see orders and the menu, managers add coupons and the homepage, owners get settings and billing.
Money and delivery
Where the payments go and who pays for the driver.
Stripe, in your own connected account. Payouts go straight from Stripe to your bank on Stripe's normal schedule. Provn never holds your revenue and cannot move it.
The live Uber Direct quote for that distance, passed through at cost with no Provn markup. You decide whether the customer pays it, you absorb it, or you split it.
No. If you have your own driver, mark orders out for delivery yourself and no courier is ever requested. Pickup-only is also a perfectly normal way to run on Provn.
By the province you operate in — GST, HST, PST or QST, including compound rules where they apply. The breakdown is stored on every order line so your reports and your accountant agree.
Full or partial, from the order screen, processed through Stripe with the reason recorded against the order.
Your data
What is yours, and what happens if you go.
You do. Phone numbers, saved addresses and order history sit in your account. Provn does not run a consumer app and does not market to your customers.
Yes — menu, customers and order history. There is no retention period you have to wait out and no export fee.
The storefront closes and billing stops. Your data stays available for export, and reopening later picks up where you left off.
Card details never touch Provn's servers. Stripe collects them directly in the checkout form and returns only a token, which is the same arrangement used by most of the internet.
